Anderson Indiana Real Estate and Community Information!

Brief History

If you are looking to live in a town that has a spiritual atmosphere about it, take a look at Anderson IN. Incorporated in 1838, the town was founded by followers of the Church of God and is the home of Anderson University. In the mid 1800s natural gas was discovered in the region and the town began to grow as people moved in to take advantage of the new industry. However, the gas played out in 1912 and the town began to go through a decline in population. The town soon began to depend on its spiritual leanings and it soon became the Church of God International Headquarters, reviving the towns population.
